NY motorcyclist dies on ride protesting helmet law
"Police say a motorcyclist participating in a protest ride against helmet laws in upstate New York died after he flipped over the bike's handlebars and hit his head on the pavement.
...
"Troopers say Contos would have likely survived if he had been wearing a helmet."
******
What can you say?
I hope he was an organ donor.
(Should riding without a helmet be repugnant? What would you think about a helmet law that said that registered donors don’t have to wear helmets?)

I'd rather the laws were changed to make organ donation the default in all cases of death, while making it easy for people to opt-out if they so desire. The black market would be decimated, and we'd have more healthy donor organs than we'd know what to do with.
I always wear a helmet.
I did a math econ paper for class looking at motorcyle accidents and death rates for states that changed their helmet laws (easy data to get). Most (but not all) of the "lives saved" were just from the reduction of the number of people riding motorcycles as opposed to being saved by the helmet.
I like your comments on motorcycle safety laws.Rider must wear Full Face Motorcycle Helmets for own safety
